Based on Chris van Abcoude’s classic Dutch children’s novel, this single-issue comic adaptation brings the story of a young street urchin in pre-war Rotterdam to a new medium. Published by Oberon in 1989, the issue was both written and illustrated by the celebrated Dutch cartoonist Dick Matena, whose expressive linework captures the grit and heart of the tale.
