About the series

In the mid-1970s, Dutch publisher Real Free Press revived George Herriman’s classic newspaper strip for a five-issue series, Krazy Kat Komix (1974–1975). Collecting the surreal, poetic adventures of the lovestruck feline, her brick-wielding adversary Ignatz Mouse, and the ever-watchful Officer Pupp, these reprints brought Herriman’s dreamlike Coconino County to a new European audience. While the original strip ran for decades, this concise run preserved the timeless, whimsical wordplay and expressive art that made Herriman a comics legend. It remains a key artifact of the underground and alternative comics movement, celebrating one of the medium’s most singular creations.
