In 1950, the Italian publisher Casa Editrice Dardo launched Kinowa, a gritty Western comic that ran for 18 issues and introduced a stoic, solitary protagonist to the genre. The series is most closely associated with the art studio EsseGesse, whose dynamic, detailed illustrations defined the book's rugged visual identity, while writers A. Lawson and Caddo Cameron crafted its tense, action-driven narratives.
