Kinderland

A tender, autobiographical series from Reprodukt, Kinderland (2022–present) follows cartoonist Mawil’s childhood in East Berlin during the 1980s, exploring daily life behind the Iron Curtain through a child’s eyes. With only one issue so far, the series captures the quiet humor and small wonders of growing up in a divided city, rendered in Mawil’s warm, expressive linework. It matters for its intimate, unvarnished look at a rarely depicted time and place in comics, offering a personal window into a lost world.
