About the series
In 2008, writer Mark Millar and artist John Romita Jr. brought a brutally realistic, profane, and violent twist to the superhero genre with Kick-Ass, an eight-issue Marvel series (plus a final issue) that follows an ordinary teenager who decides to become a real-life costumed vigilante, with disastrous and bloody consequences. The series became a cultural touchstone for its unflinching look at the consequences of heroism and its raw, kinetic visual storytelling, launching a franchise that redefined how comics could explore the dark side of fandom.
