In the late 1970s, the Italian publisher Elvifrance brought Karzan to newsstands, a 27-issue comics series that reimagined the jungle-adventure archetype with a distinctly European flair. Known for its lush, painted covers by Alessandro Biffignandi and Primo Marcarini, alongside the interior art of Mario Cubbino, the series blended pulp heroics with the stylistic excesses of the era. While not a direct adaptation, it stands as a vibrant artifact of the Franco-Belgian and Italian "fumetti" tradition, offering a visually striking, unapologetically escapist take on the wild-man genre.
