From 2020, Fontini Forlag’s Kariba is a South African comic that blends myth and modernity, set against the backdrop of the massive Kariba Dam. Written by James Clarke and Rune R. Moen, with art by Daniel Clarke, the series explores the tensions between the river’s ancient spirits and the people whose lives are reshaped by the dam’s construction. Its debut issue grounds a story about identity, displacement, and the lingering magic of a drowned landscape.
