Sanpei Shirato’s epic ninja saga Kamui arrived in English from Eclipse and Viz in 1987, with translation and adaptation by Toren Smith and Satoru Fujii. The lone issue features art from Stan Sakai and 岡本鉄二, bringing a classic Japanese tale of a renegade shinobi to American readers. Though brief, this release marks a notable early effort to bring Shirato’s influential, historically rich manga to an English-speaking audience.
