About the series
In this 2015 DC one-shot, Bruce Timm and J. M. DeMatteis reimagine Batman within the alternate universe of Justice League: Gods and Monsters. Rather than Bruce Wayne, this darker, more brutal Batman is the scientist Kirk Langstrom, who transforms into a monstrous Man-Bat to fight crime. With Matthew Dow Smith’s moody art, the issue explores a hero who is as much a creature of the night as the villains he hunts. It’s a key piece of Timm’s bold, adult-oriented take on the DC mythos.
