Jungle Tales of Tarzan

About the series

In the mid-1960s, Charlton Comics revived the Lord of the Jungle for a brief four-issue run under the banner Jungle Tales of Tarzan. Drawing on the original stories by Edgar Rice Burroughs, with scripts by prolific writer Joe Gill and artwork by Sam Glanzman and Bill Montes, the series followed John Clayton, Lord Greystoke, through his primal adventures in the African wilds. Though short-lived, it stands as a modest but earnest entry in the character's long comic-book history, capturing the raw, untamed spirit of Burroughs's creation for a new generation of readers.
