About the series
From 1972 onward, Pacific Comics Club revived the classic newspaper-adventure strip Jungle Jim in a six-issue comic series that brought Alex Raymond’s jungle explorer into the world of French-Italian bande dessinée. This European reimagining, most closely associated with writer/artist Jean-Claude Forest, stripped away the original’s pulp tropes to focus on a more mature, surreal, and ecological take on the character. Though brief, the series stands as a cult artifact of the 1970s European comics renaissance, demonstrating how a vintage American property could be boldly reinterpreted for a new continent and era.
