Journey

In the late 1980s, Fantagraphics published just two issues of Journey, a short-lived but characterful series written and drawn by William Messner-Loebs. The series follows the frontier adventures of Wolverine MacAlistaire, a grizzled fur trapper navigating the harsh and often absurd American wilderness. Though brief, Journey is a standout example of independent comics storytelling, showcasing Messner-Loebs' knack for blending historical grit with dry humor and a deep affection for his flawed, solitary protagonist.
