Joop Klepzeiker

From 1988 to 2000, CIC published the 15-issue series Joop Klepzeiker, a long-running Dutch comic strip defined by the distinctive artwork of Eric Schreurs. The series centers on its titular character, a hapless and perpetually unlucky everyman, navigating absurd and often darkly humorous situations. Schreurs’s signature style—a blend of crude, expressive linework and deadpan slapstick—gave the series a cult following for its unflinching, often transgressive take on everyday life. As a cornerstone of Dutch underground comics, Joop Klepzeiker remains a raw, unvarnished snapshot of its era’s alternative humor.
