About the series
In the early 1990s, European publisher Albatros presented a three-issue comic series simply titled Joker, bringing together writer Jean Van Hamme and artist Dany for a sleek, stylish thriller. This self-contained mini-series follows a mysterious, unnamed protagonist who adopts the Joker alias—not the Batman villain, but a cold, calculating vigilante operating in a world of high-stakes crime and deception. Van Hamme’s taut, noir-tinged storytelling is perfectly complemented by Dany’s elegant, cinematic linework, making this a standout example of Franco-Belgian crime comics. While brief, Joker remains a cult favorite for its sharp, adult-oriented take on the antihero archetype.
