About the series
In 2010 and 2011, DC published Joe the Barbarian, an eight-issue miniseries by writer Grant Morrison and artist Sean Murphy. It follows a young boy with Type 1 diabetes who, while suffering a hypoglycemic episode, finds his ordinary house transformed into a fantastical, perilous kingdom where his toys and pets come to life. Blending high fantasy with the stark reality of a medical emergency, the series is a poignant, visually inventive exploration of courage and imagination under duress.
