Jim Cutlass

About the series
A gritty, meticulously researched Western series from Casterman, Jim Cutlass ran for seven issues between 1991 and 1999, following the adventures of its titular Confederate soldier-turned-wanderer through the lawless post-Civil War frontier. Co-created by legendary European talents Jean-Michel Charlier and Jean "Moebius" Giraud, the series was brought to vivid life primarily by artist Christian Rossi, whose dynamic, detail-rich style perfectly captured the period's harsh beauty and violence. Though Charlier's death left the story unfinished, Giraud and later René van de Weijer continued the narrative, making it a notable example of the European bande dessinée tradition's take on the American West.
