About the series
Jim Woodring's Jim (1993–1996) is a surreal, wordless comic series from Fantagraphics that served as a formative proving ground for his signature, dreamlike universe. Across six issues, Woodring—alongside guest artists Dave Cooper and David Lasky—introduced the mute, anthropomorphic Frank and the grotesque Manhog, establishing the uncanny, symbolic landscapes that would define his career. A landmark of 1990s alternative comics, the series matters as the first sustained exploration of Woodring's deeply personal, visually poetic world, where inscrutable creatures and abstract events unfold with a logic all their own.
