Jigaboo Devil

From 1996, Millennium Publications released a single, potent issue of Jigaboo Devil, a comic that confronts racial stereotypes head-on with a confrontational title and imagery. Written by L. A. Morris and featuring art by Barton McGee and Jiba Molei Anderson, this short-lived series is a raw artifact of 1990s independent comics, using the medium to directly challenge and reclaim a hateful slur. Its existence marks a bold, if brief, statement from the era's small-press landscape.
