Jazar

In the mid-1980s, Harry Messerschmidt wrote and drew all eight issues of Jazar for Braun, a short-lived but distinctive series that followed the adventures of a lone, nomadic protagonist through a strange, post-apocalyptic landscape. Messerschmidt’s singular vision—both in its sparse, atmospheric storytelling and its detailed, moody artwork—gave the book a unique, almost cinematic feel that set it apart from the superhero-heavy comics of the era. Though brief, Jazar remains a cult touchstone for fans of creator-owned, offbeat science fiction from the Bronze Age.
