About the series
In the 1970s, the Swedish publisher Hemmets Journal brought René Goscinny and Jean Tabary’s classic French comic Iznogoud to a new audience over ten issues. The series follows the scheming Grand Vizier Iznogoud, whose relentless, bumbling plots to replace the Caliph of Baghdad are a masterclass in slapstick villainy. Translated and adapted by Ingrid Emond alongside Goscinny, this run captures the sharp satire and visual wit that made the character a staple of European comics.
