Ironwood

In the early 1990s, Comics USA published a single issue of Ironwood, a self-contained fantasy comic written and drawn by Bill Willingham, with additional writing by Thierry Cailleteau. This brief, standalone story introduces a mysterious, armored hero in a richly detailed woodland setting, hinting at a larger world that never expanded beyond this lone installment. Though it remains a one-shot, the issue is notable as an early showcase of Willingham’s distinctive storytelling and art, predating his later, more famous work in the genre.
