Indian Chief

From 1953 to 1954, World Distributors published Indian Chief, a 31-issue comic series that brought the traditions and adventures of Native American life to the newsstands. Most frequently written by Gaylord Du Bois, with painted covers and interior art from Jon Small, the series offered a respectful, if era-typical, portrayal of its subject. It stands as a notable example of the short-lived but popular wave of Western and frontier-themed comics from the early 1950s.
