Il Nome della Rosa

In 2024, Panini Comics launched a comic book adaptation of Umberto Eco's celebrated novel Il Nome della Rosa. This ongoing series, currently one issue in, brings the medieval mystery to a new visual medium. While it is too early to assess its full impact, the project is notable for translating a dense, literary whodunit—set in a 14th-century Italian monastery—into sequential art, continuing the tradition of highbrow graphic novel adaptations.
