Iczer One

From 1994, Antarctic Press brought Toshihiro Hirano's mecha-and-monster saga to American comics, with Elin Winkler and Kuni Kimura scripting alongside Hirano across its five-issue run. Artist Moriki Yasuhiro rendered the cosmic battle between the armored warrior Iczer and the alien Cthulhu, a fusion of Japanese anime energy and Western indie-comic grit. This series stands as a cult artifact of the '90s manga-import boom, bridging otaku fandom with the early days of U.S. original English-language manga.
