I Sanguinari
Edifumetto · 1972–1979 · 87 issues
About the series
A lurid, painted horror anthology from Italian publisher Edifumetto, I Sanguinari ran for 87 issues between 1972 and 1979, its covers and interiors drenched in the macabre, hyper-detailed style of artists like Carlo Jacono, Alessandro Biffignandi, and Fernando Carcupino. Each issue delivered a standalone tale of gothic terror, vampires, and monstrous revenge, rendered in the distinctive "dipinto" (painted) technique that made it a cult cornerstone of Italian fumetti neri. The series stands as a visceral, unapologetically adult artifact of 1970s European horror comics.
