I Hate Crime

A grim ten-issue run from Young's Merchandising Company, I Hate Crime (1953–1954) delivered hard-boiled, morality-driven crime tales where the law always won. Artist Roy Beckhouse, the series' most frequent penciler, brought a stark, shadowy visual style to stories of cops, crooks, and comeuppance. This short-lived series stands as a pulpy artifact of the pre-Comics Code era, when crime comics were at their most unvarnished and cautionary.
