About the series
From 1992 to 1993, Tundra Publishing released Hyena, a three-issue anthology series that showcased a rotating roster of underground and alternative cartoonists. Most frequently associated with writers Mark Martin and Michael Kupperman, as well as artists Brian Sendelbach, Jim Siergey, and Mack White, the series offered a platform for their surreal, often absurdist humor and offbeat storytelling. Though brief, Hyena stands as a snapshot of the early-1990s small-press scene, capturing the experimental energy of its creators before they each moved on to more prominent careers.
