Hothead Paisan

From 1991 to 1995, Diane DiMassa wrote and drew Hothead Paisan for Giant Ass Publishing, a raw, 20-issue underground comic that introduced one of the most ferociously cathartic characters of the era. Hothead is a rage-filled, lesbian feminist who confronts everyday sexism, homophobia, and violence with explosive, often darkly humorous retaliation. The series became a touchstone of ’90s queer and feminist comics, celebrated for its unapologetic, visceral energy and DiMassa’s bold, expressionistic art. It remains a foundational work in the alternative comics landscape for channeling righteous fury into a powerful, cathartic narrative.
