Horror Tales
Eerie Publications · 1969–1979 · 45 issues
About the series
Over its 45-issue run from 1969 to 1979, Eerie Publications' Horror Tales delivered a reliably grim brand of shock comic, churning out lurid tales of monsters, ghouls, and the macabre. Writer Jay Disbrow was the series' most prolific scribe, while artists Antonio Reynoso, Dick Ayers, and Rubén Marchionne provided the visceral, often gruesome visuals that defined the title's unapologetically exploitative tone. A cornerstone of the pre-Comics Code horror revival, it mattered as a raw, unvarnished example of the genre's pulpier, more sensational side.
