About the series
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, French publisher J'ai lu brought a definitive edition of Hokuto no Ken to European readers, serializing the brutal post-apocalyptic saga across 27 issues. This translation preserves the legendary work of writer Buronson and artist Tetsuo Hara, whose visceral tale of martial arts, sacrifice, and the unyielding spirit of Kenshiro defined an era of manga. For many, this series was the gateway to the iconic Fist of the North Star franchise, cementing its place in the history of translated comics.
