Histoire de Mr. Jabot

A single-issue French comic published by Garnier Frères in 1860, Histoire de Mr. Jabot is an early example of the sequential picture-story form that would evolve into the modern comic strip. Created by Rodolphe Töpffer, the work follows the misadventures of its pompous title character through a series of hand-lettered, paneled illustrations.
