Hinz & Kunz

In the late 1970s, the German comic series Hinz & Kunz launched with just two issues from the satirical magazine Pardon, featuring the distinctive work of Bernd Pfarr and Volker Reiche. Blending absurdist humor with a keen observational eye, the series introduced two hapless everymen navigating the mundane absurdities of everyday life. Though brief, its deadpan, wry tone and uniquely German sensibility made it a cult touchstone for fans of alternative European comics. Pfarr’s later fame as a Titanic cartoonist only deepened the appreciation for this sparse, influential oddity.
