From 2016 onward, Eric Powell has written and drawn this Albatross series, a dark fantasy rooted in Appalachian folklore. Over twelve issues, it follows a monstrous wanderer named Rondel, whose travels through a cursed mountain landscape pit him against witches, devils, and other folk horrors. Powell’s lush, moody art and gritty storytelling give the book a distinct, earthy magic, making it a standout modern addition to the horror-comics tradition.
