About the series

Shueisha's Hikaru no Go (published in French by Tonkam from 2002 to 2006) is a 23-issue manga that transformed the ancient board game Go into a gripping modern sports drama. The series follows a young boy whose life is upended when the spirit of a legendary Go master from the Heian era takes up residence in his mind, pushing him into the fiercely competitive world of professional play. Created by Yumi Hotta (story) and Takeshi Obata (art), with supervision from Go professional Yukari Umezawa, the series is celebrated for making a cerebral, centuries-old game accessible and thrilling to a global audience. Its influence is credited with sparking a real-world resurgence of interest in Go among young people.
