A gritty, painted Italian crime series from Ediperiodici, Hessa (1970–1972) ran for 47 issues of lurid, adult-oriented pulp. The series is most associated with the distinctive, oil-painted covers and interiors of Studio Rosi, whose moody, realistic style defined its look, alongside contributions from artist Nevio Zeccara.
