About the series
In a rain-slicked, near-future metropolis, Paul Pope’s Heavy Liquid (2001–present, DC) follows a lone, drug-addled private eye through a world of corrosive addiction and high-tech noir. Pope serves as both writer and artist, crafting a singular, kinetic vision of a society hooked on a strange, sentient substance. Though it ran for only one issue, its moody, expressive art and dense world-building established Pope as a defining voice in 2000s alternative comics. A cult touchstone, it remains a potent, self-contained blast of dystopian energy.
