Harry der Grenzreiter
Lehning · 1953–1955 · 69 issues
About the series
In the early 1950s, German publisher Lehning launched Harry der Grenzreiter, a 69-issue western series that followed the adventures of a frontier scout. Running from 1953 to 1955, the strip was a staple of the postwar German comic landscape, with its rugged protagonist and frontier setting. The series is particularly remembered for the work of artist Hansrudi Wäscher, whose dynamic, expressive style defined the look of the character and helped cement his reputation as a leading figure in German comic art. Harry der Grenzreiter remains a key example of the popular, adventure-driven western comics that thrived in Germany during the 1950s.
