From 1993 onward, Frank Miller and Geof Darrow teamed up at Dark Horse for Hard Boiled, a dense, hyper-detailed sci-fi noir limited series that follows an insurance investigator whose reality begins to unravel. Darrow’s impossibly intricate, almost mechanical artwork pairs with Miller’s hard-boiled storytelling to create a visually overwhelming world of corporate paranoia and synthetic identity. Though only a single issue deep, the series remains a landmark collaboration between two of the medium’s most distinctive talents, showcasing their shared love for pulp violence and dystopian excess.
