Happy Birthday Gnatrat

A single, oversized issue from 1986, Happy Birthday Gnatrat is a bizarre and beautiful artifact from the short-lived Dimension Graphics, a small press that nurtured some of the most original cartoonists of the era. Mark Martin writes and draws a surreal, darkly funny story about a rodent's birthday party, but the real draw is the sheer density of artistic talent on display: the issue also features contributions from the visionary Jim Woodring and Ted Blackman, making it a unique time capsule of underground creativity.
