About the series
In the late 1980s, Norwegian publisher Semic brought the Viking warrior Hårek to his own comic series, a spinoff from the popular Fantomet (The Phantom) magazine. Over 26 issues, writer Egil Lyder and artist Knut Westad crafted the adventures of this rough-and-tumble Norseman, blending historical action with a distinctly Scandinavian sensibility. The series stands as a key artifact of Norway's homegrown comic boom, showcasing a beloved character who had long been a supporting player in a foreign hero's world.
