Hägar the Horrible
Egmont/Methuen · 1977–1979 · 7 issues
About the series
Dik Browne’s beloved comic-strip Viking, Hägar the Horrible, got a brief but fondly remembered seven-issue comic series from Egmont/Methuen between 1977 and 1979. Browne himself wrote and drew each issue, translating his daily newspaper gags into longer, self-contained adventures. It’s a charming artifact of the strip’s peak popularity, offering fans a more substantial dose of Hägar’s hapless pillaging, domestic squabbles, and eternal struggle with his wife, Helga.
