About the series

Dik Browne’s beloved viking anti-hero Hägar the Horrible got a short-lived but spirited comic-book run from German publisher Goldmann in the late 1980s. Spanning five issues from 1987 to 1988, the series collected and repackaged Browne’s classic newspaper strips, bringing the blundering, long-suffering Norseman—along with his sharp-tongued wife Helga and hapless son Hamlet—to a new format. While not a new story, it stands as a tidy European tribute to one of the most enduringly funny gags in daily comics.
