Guardians of the Louvre

In 2016, NBM launched Guardians of the Louvre, a single-issue graphic novel by acclaimed manga artist Jiro Taniguchi. The story follows a young Japanese man who, during a visit to the Louvre, finds himself drawn into a dreamlike tour of the museum's history, encountering its artworks and the people connected to them. Taniguchi's delicate, detailed linework and quiet storytelling transform the iconic Parisian institution into a contemplative, cross-cultural journey through time and art. This standalone work stands as a poignant, visually sumptuous meditation on the power of museums to connect us across centuries.
