About the series
Matt Wagner’s Grendel launched at Comico in 1983 as a three-issue miniseries that introduced the masked, violent antihero Hunter Rose. Wagner wrote and drew every issue, establishing the series’ signature blend of noir atmosphere and stylized action. This original run laid the foundation for one of independent comics’ most enduring and complex mythologies.
