Girlhero

Megan Kelso’s Girlhero (1993–1996) was a six-issue series from High Drive Publications that explored the interior lives of young women through quiet, slice-of-life storytelling. Kelso, who both wrote and drew the entire run, used clean, expressive linework to capture moments of awkwardness, longing, and small triumphs, often with a gently surreal edge. The series stands as an early, influential example of the autobiographical and indie-comics sensibilities that would define much of the 1990s alternative scene.
