About the series
In the late 1990s, Dutch publisher Arboris brought Masamune Shirow's seminal cyberpunk saga to an international audience with this eight-issue comic series. Set in a near-future where humanity merges with advanced technology, it follows the exploits of Section 9, a covert counter-cyberterrorist unit led by the cyborg Major Motoko Kusanagi. Shirow's dense, intricately detailed artwork and philosophical exploration of identity, consciousness, and the digital age defined the series, which remains a cornerstone of the cyberpunk genre. This edition is notable for introducing the acclaimed manga to European readers in a periodical format.
