About the series
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Italian publisher Galax Editrice introduced Gengis Khana, a 48-issue series that blends historical adventure with fantastical elements, centered on the legendary Mongol conqueror. While the title character evokes Genghis Khan, the series is best remembered for its striking, often surreal artwork, most notably by the influential artist Magnus (Roberto Raviola), whose detailed, expressive style defined the book's visual identity. A cult classic of Italian fumetti, Gengis Khana stands out for its ambitious fusion of epic history and imaginative storytelling during a fertile period for European comics.
