About the series
In the mid-1980s, Semic Press brought the beloved, lasagna-loving cat to European comics stands with a dedicated series simply titled Garfield. Running for eight issues from 1984 to 1985, this comic collection was helmed by the strip's creator, Jim Davis, who both wrote and drew the adventures. It offered a fresh batch of the famously lazy, sarcastic feline's daily gags and misadventures with his owner Jon and the hapless dog Odie, packaged for an international audience. This series stands as a compact, period-specific snapshot of the global spread of one of comics' most iconic characters.
