G.I. Joe: Hearts & Minds

In 2010, IDW published a single-issue prestige project that reframed the G.I. Joe mythos as a psychological war story, focusing on the human cost of conflict rather than action set pieces. Written with a visceral, character-driven intimacy, the issue paired brutal realism with the distinctive, hard-edged art of Howard Chaykin. Though brief, Hearts & Minds stands as a mature, standalone examination of the soldiers on both sides of the eternal battle between Cobra and the Joe team.
