About the series
In 2021, DC’s Future State event offered a glimpse of a possible tomorrow, and Superman of Metropolis zeroed in on a very different kind of Man of Steel. Across its two issues, writer Sean Lewis and artists Cully Hamner and Michael Avon Oeming explored a Metropolis without its classic hero, instead following a new, more aggressive Superman. This short series matters as a bold, self-contained experiment in redefining the Superman mythos, stripping away familiar comforts to ask what the symbol of hope means in a darker future.
